This looks a very early picture with Giebel and color was rare at the time.
It was probably the year of 1960.

She corrected me once in an email because I mistakenly addressed her as Mrs. Ellen Giebel.

Ms. Giebel always declares herself a member of 許家 Hsu's family.
My mother describe Ms. Giebel as a person of "好性" (this Taiwanese means good personality).
"our monkey" (Giebel's note)
Giebel had told my cousin Jane Chen the story about a monkey taking her pen away while she was writing. This is she. While the monkey was way up on a tree with her pen, Giebel said she succeeded by trading a banana for the pen.
My auntie Ah-shin also told stories about the monkey. One time the monkey searched through the pockets of clothes belonging to many of her guests who came to her house and took away edible stuff. Accordingly, my auntie disciplined the monkey for that. Then one evening she noticed the rice pot on the stove was all messed up. Immediately she knew that was the act of the monkey's revenge. When she found the monkey, she sat squarely, seemingly knowing what was coming to her.

Ms. Ellen Giebel had reviewed this program note. It was for the "From Asia: Beautiful Melodies and Hymns" concert we performed at the Nixon Library in 2006.
She sent me in the email her comment on "Flowers (Lillies) of The Field 野地的花", so I included it in the program note (see below).
