I used to applaud this historical event, however, with time I realize Nixon actually sold out Taiwan for his political gain. 1972 Nixon visit to China Occurring from February 21 to 28, 1972, the visit allowed the American public to view images of China for the first time in over two decades.

Taiwan under Japanese Colonial Rule
A book for better understanding of the Empire of Japan
1901, Meiji Bridge 明治橋 in Yuan Shan 圓山,
which connected the Ambassador Way 敕使街道 and Taipei City, part of the project for
the construction of Taiwan Grand Shrine 台湾神宮 (たいわんじんぐう). The Taiwan Grand Shrine was demolished in 1945. On the same site, the Grand Hotel 圓山大飯店 was erected in 1973.
