The bamboo legrest sits underneath the Chinese violin (erhu) and rests on the leg (left usually) of the Chinese violin player. The instrument becomes more free to vibrate so both clarity and loudness of the erhu sound is greatly improved.
Picture shows my 1980 Shanghai Dun-huan erhu上海敦煌牌二胡 resting on the bamboo legrest.
Bottom view of the Bamboo Chinese violin legrest. 4 small bamboo sticks glued to the bamboo cup further isolate the musical instrument from the player, which make the erhu sound slightly richer.
